Happy New Year! I know I'm a few weeks late for this.

I've entered a new phase of life which has been an interesting ride. Still adapting to everything with this new venture of life, hence the absence of updates on this blog. Something a close friend said to me just got me thinking "hmm.. maybe I should blog again.!" So, I'll try now to keep this blog alive ;)

It has been a long time since I've gone all out just to try out new delicacies...

TODAY, I had the opportunity to lunch at this massive bungalow-cafe-pastry shop hidden in the midst of busy KL.

Lavien, is its name. :)

Fling open the brazen doors, and you will find....

A MASSIVE crowd (almost equaivalent to a scene in Sg. Wang) at the counter waiting in line with trays of piping hot pastries!

(You grab the freshly baked goodness at your left )

I've super sensitive eyes.

Once these eyes detect a bustling crowd, they automatically shift focus to a less congested sight.

Hence this is what my eyes led me to...

And they sent a message to the brain saying:

Ahhh...... :)

While waiting for our food to arrive, I took out the pastries purchased earlier at the counter, and laid them one by one on the table...

The uncle next to my table ( who became instant friends with my dad after " Hey, you look familiar, are you in a regular in **** club?) questioned my action, which my dad laughed off saying " nowadays they just want to upload these unto FB"

Well, he was wrong. I did it for this blog ;)

Ignoring the fact that the uncle might be raising his eyebrow, I snapped this out:

They came in various shapes, sizes and names like Baumkechen and Red Bean Donut.

Was too impatient for the main meals to arrive, and started munching on the goodies above.

The pastries are to die for.

Take my word for it.

Having no time to let the guilt of pastry-indulging wear off, the mains HAD to arrive.

And it got me all exited again! =P

It all began when the new friend my dad made and his wife started engaging us in conversation and suddenly it seemed like we were old-time-family friends!! Haha.

The food they ordered were MIA due to a system break down at the counter, so the staff compensated the couple's waiting time with a free almond croissant, which she ( to our surprise ) decided to share halve of it with us - her new friends! Woots!

Funny it may seem, but little things like this do make by day. Well, really, how often do you get free food from a stranger/ friend you made for 10mins ? :)

If you've a sweet tooth just like I do or you literally live on bread alone, then do drop by this little haven to satisfy your carb/sugar cravings. Croissants and breads are must tries!

I've always wanted to make a batch of these :

by this dessert goddess that goes by the name of bakerella

but i never ever could find any LOLLIPOP STICKS that she uses!

i searched high and low. even considered purchasing them over ebay once..

but i reckoned the ugly stepsister of snow white - bamboo skewers, could erm be a fair enough substitute.

so i made peace with myself.. and overlook the fact that bamboo skewers....

although aren't as pretty, smooth nor as porcelain-white as the lollipop sticks

could make me...

Cheesecake Pops!

(still find the sticks a lil irritating)

they are called cheesecake pops because, a bite into them reveals the magnificent cheesecake!

just roll up cheesecake balls and dunk them in chocolate

tried them with japanese cheesecake cause i was just too lazy to make me own.. ;)

sprinkle the chocolate glaze with any nut/shavings/sprinkles of your choice =)

To most people, a trip to Thailand only served one goal : "Shop till you drop!"

To the minority (me), travelling to new horizons would only mean one thing: "Eat till you drop!"

Taking pride in their hawker fare, Thailand is very much like Malaysia in that sense. The night market is where you find traditional delicacies served under florescent lights with the occasional visit from flying pests.

Ginger based Tau Fu Fa

What this dude was serving seemed so much like tau fu fa! Greedy us wanted a taste of everything and pointed accordingly to the bowls of dessert, only to find one to strong in taste and the other as bland as water. Thats the price of a little adventure I supposed!

Disappointed, we nosed around the next stall ...

There was quite a crowd of 3-4 peeps queing for this, compared to the other stalls which were left unvisited, this is a good sign...perhaps?

Truth be told, it was lovely! Its similar to the Vietnamese noodles you get here but with handful of ingredients! And for the price of RM4?? you can die tearing with joy!

Fate brought us to Chinatown the following night. The entire street was bedazzled by multicoloured neon signboards! So pretty the sight was that I started singing to "Downtown where all the lights are bright! ....", all silently in my head.

Mesmerized by the "city's" lights, noted how most of the hawker stalls there were selling the same stuff!

Sharks Fin and Birds Nest!

The Birds Nest with gingko nuts was refreshing and subtly sweet, although there were only a few mouthfuls of birds' nest in it as expected. We were all doubting the authenticity of the sharks fin soup though...

Pancake Stalls!

Entitled to two options: savoury (chicken floss) and sweet (pineapple puree)

We tried both (of course), and mmmmmm.. loved it!

Mcdonalds Mcdonalds.... Yes I went all the way to Thailand and dined in a MCD franchise! You may hurdle me with names, call me what you want.......BUT I've gotten my hands on this!!!

Burger BABI!

Succulent, juicy and oh so heavenly!

Maybe I should start proposing to the gov for a separate McD outlet... with the sign "Non-Halal" dangling at the entrance's door. Then we won't have to pay the price of an air ticket just for the P.O.R.K burger anymore.

Aside from that, lacking at our McDs is the Tuna pie and some orange drink that comes with your burger set.

We didn't get to venture for food so much due to the tour we were tied to and most of our meal destinations were prefixed, so we ended up feeding on international buffet meals which was pretty disappointing.

However one fine noon ... this was served at the buffet parlor.

Rice Cupcakes

This tiny humble looking thing gave us a shock of our lives. This magical thing just melts in your mouth.. warm and creamy....the fact that they were so tiny only made me help myself with more! I could just eat a dozen of then as a meal!

Whats Thailand without Mango Sticky Rice and Tom Yam? I've always wanted to try authentic Mango Sticky Rice and Tom Yam, since most tom yam here are made to adjust our local tastebuds. So I was anticipating some really spicy bowl ...

But it wasn't that spicy!

Mango Sticky Rice from a foodcourt was nothing to rave about.

In fact I've tasted better ones here! haha. Hail Malaysia!

Another porky thing ...called Pork Satay. (mmmmm)

Our last night got us all doing some very last minute shopping and Wei-I spotted this boy here selling banana pancakes, in other words, roti pisang la..

Instead of serving the "roti pisang" with dahl and curry, this was drizzled instead with condensed milk and sprinkled with sugarrrrr!

Famously preached by Anthony Bourdain, " You can only truly understand a culture eating what they eat".
Well it definitely wasn't the shopping that made me comprehend their country and culture. :)

Thai cuisine was indeed unique, but it sure does accommodate taste buds across the universe! The trip up north left me satisfied ...

till my adventurous palate came across Air Asia's lunch boxes....

Blue&White Stripes

Have always dreamt of sipping English tea, eating freshly baked brownies and scones over a little chatter while sheltered from the sun's furnace by a big umbrella of blue and white stripes, allowing only fragments of its warmth seeping through.

Places like these are a rare sight in hustling-bustling, skyscraper-cluttered Kuala Lumpur.

One fine day, rumours began to spread that such a place did exist in the midst of Klang Valley! That was the day I fell in love with what I saw with my very own eyes - its beautiful offerings of desserts, cuppas and sandwiches, all in.......

..... Facebook.

Given its location in some unexplored metropolis called Sri Hartamas and mere dormancy of mine, I had to suppress the longing of discovering this hidden jewel for months and months.... till I found the occasion worth travelling and getting lost for!

Yea. Have to make a few U-turns before reaching the destination...

Conclusion: Always have a Garmin at hand, not Google Map.

So there it is, located in the midst of Sri Hartamas Shopping Centre, lies the treasure trove!!!!

These were. the. best. scones. I've tried till date!

Wanted to order only a piece given the amount of food gorged, but the Mrs.Teapot lookalike owner told us that she would profit more that way, as selling a set of two would be of more value for us customers. ( 1 piece for RM4.90, 2 for RM6.90)

Wah... such honesty. We need more sales people like her!

There were still so many types of desserts arranged before my eyes, and they all seemed to be crying out to me... but the tummy was crying out too in agony. I'll return once more, next time, just for desserts!

And I did get to seat under a Big umbrella with Blue and White stripes under the warm sunlight...

Ahhhh... simply divine.

It was never a decision to drop by in the first place.. but as all the cafes we had in mind initially weren't open this place came in view.. and it was simply by chance that we came across this beautifully adorned restaurant.. and our growling tummies made the call this time around and we obediently pulled to a stop at this place.

A restaurant out of my oh-so-fond nickname!

How rare is that??

Dark woody-dimmed ambience that imports you to Bali the instance you step foot into Waterlily.

Everything here from the decor to the food shouts "Balinese"!!

Never tried balinese, but it seems to be a fusion alteration of malay cuisine.

Forgotten the names to the platters..

But all i can say that they all come with a hefty price tag, and personally it wasn't worth my precious pennies

The sauces were good stuff though.. unless you love your condiments this place would be "sauce-haven"! If you don't, a mamak would very well cater to your "Bali-neish" cravings. Its very much alike in my opinion hehe.

It was also Lesley's b'day lunch surprise :)

The eldest sister recently came back from the land where the Four HEavenly Kings still reign and where TvB dramas' the CORE contribution to the country's GDP. ( sorry had to put my knowledge from econs class to use someday)..

During her trip, she sent over a postcard, which ironically arrived at our doorstep a day after she set foot in Home Sweet Home. " the pork chops here are AWESOME" writes she on the dampen postcard from the rainstruck mailbox.

It was her way of torturing our palates, forcing us to imagine the scrumptiousness of pork chops/burgers and HK dim sums that could never ever sample without the cost of a plane ticket.

Anyway, what she couldn't bring back tangibly was compensated with egg rolls, biscuits, liquor filled chocolates that almost set my throat on fire and ......

First time I saw him on screen, he was playing a gay fashionista in Devil Wears Prada.. now he's a serial killer...He really deserved that Oscar nomination for his performance here. Though I had flashes of him as the fashionista occasionally during the movie =P

Anyway back to the movie.. The graphics were good.. everything was as abstract as the book....

tons of beautiful footages of landscapes..

BUT.. and a very big one.. my mind started zoning off to my very own world as colourful scenes pass before my eyes.. Knowing the story at heart and watching it in a somewhat different perspective.. it was quite a torture lar honestly..

The story was meant to be dark and actually a lil more interesting than the movie itself?.but the director's intepretation made it rather chirpish.. and a lil too colourful at parts?

It was also more in depth.. but yea.. i guess as usual, you can't really translate each detail precisely from a book to a movie.. Despite the great cast and awesome CGIs, I didn't really enjoy it much.. Maybe next time, i should just watch the movie first then read the book or totally just scrape off the idea of watching a movie after reading a book... if i can tahan lar. =P

PS. Her crush was supposed to be cuter in my imagination!!! pftt.

Papayas, bananas, wholewheat cereals have been your diet for the past two days. What goes in still does not come out..

What now?

Loong long time ago, there was a land far far away, where foreign exquisite delicacies like dim sum and char siew fan were consumed by its constantly starving citizens.

Kopi-O, a pitch black liquid was the humble secret to producing these scrumptious meals It was as legend recalls, how "Ale" is for Britain.. a "secret ingredient" only known among the food connoisseurs. By consuming the rich dark Kopi-O, chefs and workers magically whipped out more and more dim sum and char siew fan. A day without it means no dim sum and char siew fan for its grouchy and starving citizens.

Years later, Citizens were soon introduced to the secret ingredient, and performances in their workplaces improved and everyone was happy and satisfied..

However there a little girl in a pale blue pinafore with no piggy tails that hated it. A lingering bitterness and a massive migraine in her head, is what she gets after sipping the dark liquid. Even when it got famous and even had sweets made out of it, a single sweet in the evening, will result in a wide-eyed moment that will last till 2am for the poor girl.

However, age caught up and she was introduced to the wonderful world of a PLEH University, little did she know, that this new journey she embarked on led to sleepless nights.

Everyone here drank that dark liquid she grew up knowing.. "it keeps you AWAKE", they tell her.

She remembered the magical Kopi-O sweet she had years back. "This time", she said to herself.. "I'll take no sweet, but I'll drink the real thing" she spoke to herself.

She made herself a cup of coffee... and since then, things were never the same. Though she didn't love it, the magic worked! She could now stay up during those late nights to complete her pile of work.

Now, being quite an avid drinker of this black substance,she started developing a liking for coffee desserts. Somehow cakes and ice cream made of these cocoa beans were different.....! They have this certain fragrance in them..dark bitterish sweetness that's.... so irresistible!

So for a dinner gathering one fine day, she decided to make a cake made out of the very much loved coffee as a dessert treat.

Mmmmmmm... the magic still remains within those dark aromatic granules. =)

I'm still fazed by the thought that I'm in my last semester.

Completing this sem, would mark my 5th year anniversary with HELP.

Ya.. I'm the grey-haired lady you see everyday that trots up the steps of Block E with a crooked walking stick.

Even as my youth fades away with each tap made with my walking rod, the parking condition in Help remains the same.

A friend texted me at 8am yesterday, saying that parking has been filled up to the brim, with one whole chunk of the parking zone being blocked off.

Hmm.. I was taught once upon a time that infrastructures, technology, education systems develop throughout the years.. "for over five long years, Help's parking did not retain its previous condition, yet has gotten from bad to worse.

The complaints from us senior citizens of Help has fallen upon deaf ears.

So you young budding hopefuls of our the university. please help HELP?

Finally.. a web layout I'm satisfied with!

Took me 2 hours to decide upon that, though i've picked that out at the very beginning of my 'layout hunt'..

Beats me how true what "Blink" by Malcom Gladwell says.. " your first judgement is usually right".. oh man..could have used the extra 2 hours doing something more fruitful.. like searching for more layouts!

The magical holiday season of Christmas and New Year transforms belts to a few notches more to the right and makes you wonder why you can't do 2km runs in 10 minutes anymore... hmmm...strange huh?

Despite the joyous moments of Christmas and what the holiday season brings about.. one can't doubt that it is also the season of gluttony and more gluttony..which I've never repented for.. gosh.. that's like tonnes of committed sins accumulated throughout the years! God forgive me? :)

The holidays have been refreshing with an awesome camp and tonnes of gatherings.

Its an irony how we tend to be busier during the holidays than college-days, even my eye circles are resembling more as those of a panda's... heee

On the other hand, the grand opening of a new dessert place a min walk away from church made this Christmas sweeter than the rest :)

Its called the "Ice Room", which serves super pretty flavoured shaved ice topped with all sorts of toppings.

It melts it your mouth and makes u go oh lala.. BUT...its pretty expensive for a bowl of almost-heaven. Totalling to 8 bucks per bowl of ice, you might think twice paying that much for merely flavoured ice.

10 years back, the mamak uncle would never imagine how a revolutionize ais kacang would make a fortune just by doing some minor adjustments to its flavouring and toppings. Albeit the cut-throat price, it would be worth it if you dine here occasionally. Sharing with others helps ease the burden of emptying the pockets. =)

Ice Room is also really one of a kind. Well, which restuarant would allow almost an entire group of youth to fill its place with their ear deafening laughter and chatter?

yea. i'm the one with hair all over the table. dun ask me why

This place even allows you the liberty of playing cards for hours and hours.

What more can you ask from a restaurant really..?

So come visit FGA Cheras one Sunday and after that we could have some ice at Ice Room ;)

Spread Cookies

There! This blog has finally been revived!!

So as promised.. this would be wholly solely a food blog.

Be prepared then, to feast with your eyes ;)

I was going through my daily routine of food-blogs scrolling and came upon this cookie recipe with a very unique name -

the "Spread Cookies" from the thepioneerwoman.com

The photos illustrated were mouthwatering!! Since the instructions seemed managable as well.. and time was all I have, I gave in... and committed the act of Impromptu Baking. ( which happens ever so often to me ). Blame the tempting pictures from that site!

I scooped spoons and spoons of chips, more than what the recipe required ;)

and threw them all over the baked gigantic cookie-square

Pop it back into the oven..

And magic happens.....

Was supposed to show you how the choc chips were melt with your heart melting along with it....

But I forgot to take a snapshot of that! Booo.. anyway..fast forwarding.;

Spread the melted choc chips evenly over the cookie.. and thats how it would look like!

Hence the name- Spread Cookies. =)

Then you can cut out the cookies from the tray....

And happily arrange them on a metal rack to cool....

You could resist not eating them when they are piping hot

With guey melted chocolate all over them.. =)

They were yummmmmyyy.. especially after freezing them in the refrigerator for a while.. also gave some as a gift for a friend's b'day. =)

Sigh.. of all days.. I had to read this recipe just a day before PROM! All the effort on resisting sugar itself came to a full stop.... that's why impromptu baking can be fatal at times, but guess it wouldn't make a difference by indulging a little right? ;)

Dear Exclusive Readers, (happy lehhhh =P)

The past few weeks have been "lemony's snickets" for me.

Lemony's snickets should be a new term in the dictionary for "a series of unfortunate events befalling on someone " :(

Well as they say... Whatever does not kill you, toughens you right?

Right.. tough gets going! *ties a red bandanna over forehead*

As the title goes, what follows is gonna be cheery! Exactly how the start of my Summer holidays were.

The cousins have been gone for a week now, and I miss them dearly!

It has been 12 years since we've last saw them. Those days, due to language barriers, we used sign language to communicate. This time around, I was pretty nervous..knowing that they speak minimum English since my Jap-vocab is limited to the likes of Kawaii, Sayanora, and Baka.. it was going to be another round of hand movements and gestures to understand each other. And having my aunt skype " well you guys did fine with sign languages years back, I'm sure now wouldn't be a prob" only added to my worry lines.

Thankfully. it wasn't that bad...

They understood what I said, and me them.. it was enough to get us joking and chattering all the way!

Throughout their stay here, we journeyed miles and miles all the way to Malacca.

Took a drive to KLCC, and took pictures with it as our backdrop just like tourists.

Eat and eat and eat like there was no tomorrow.

Took pictures a plenty to till the next Summer Holidays =)

Where angels and golden paths surround you

You always told us how much you loved us till we were burnt..

You called each night tirelessly to talk to us, and ask what everyone else were doing.

You told us stories descriptively, some were interesting, some we couldn't relate to at all, yet you still told us nonetheless, enthusiastically each time.

You used to give our guy friends "the stare", each time you see them, somehow you never trusted teenage boys.

You always told us to look out for our drinks, never to drive at night, and never to go near the sea.

You always told your friends how proud you were of us, making us pretty well-known amongst the coffee-shop uncles and aunties

Each time when you pack "zap fan" for us, it would always be a mountain-tall. Although knowing we could never finish it, your reason was that most importantly we will eat till we're full.

You cared for us in a thousand ways, that this post can never fully express..

Days will never be the same without you here, but at least I know we'll meet again someday.

Thanks for every single memory you've given me.

Yeh yeh, I love you and will miss you so dearly.

The Japanese love their packaging dainty and pretty. My aunt said that because of this very fact, Nippon-sans are complaining that prices of food and stuff are expensive due to its packaging.. and many are going for simpler and cheaper alternatives for packaging.... noooooo!

I like them pretty just the way they are. And these are one of the things that most people relate the Japanese to - pretty packages! =P

Up was awesome.

almost cried during certain scenes =P

I like how touching a simple pixar animation can get.

Up told me "carpe diem!" .. but for a friend, it told him that to "throw away all the baggages holding us down from soaring" ( when Mr. Federickson did the exact same thing)

Never saw it in that light, but I'm enlighten now. Thanks for sharing you-know-who-you are :)

I find Russel adorably annoying!!

He is super annoying with all the questions.. but that what makes him cute!

But what happened to the father at the end? Did the producers forget all about him?

He did not turn up for the badge-giving ceremony.. and it was Mr.Federikson that counted cars and had ice-cream with him .. supposed to be daddy..then it would had been a happy-ending... i was pretty sadden bout it.. :(

hey how are you?

it has been a while since i've penned anything here, nor posted "happening" pictures.

truth is. i've been real busy working part-time, having things going on back home, and had not been that "happening" haha.

today is me last day at work.

of all things that I could've imagined myself doing.. I never thought in a million years Accouting would be one of them.

I told myself in form 3, that KH would be my final contact with accounting.

Lil did I know.. fast forward 4 years, I'll be working part-time as an accountant!

Thanks to CY for patiently training me haha.. she said I've graduated as an accountant in this past month..

Now I do not have to go through 4 years of studies just to get a degree in accounting

muahahhaa ;)

it has been real cool working in midvalley boulevard.

Lemon Cheesecake Bars

Cookout was around the corner.. and I still couldn't think of anything to bake for it!

A cookout ain't the ordinary potbless.

This is the time when one's inner chef springs out.. and dishes out the finest speciality of one's own. This is also what we call the Sinners' Meeting, where I usually spend "before and after Cookout" burning my indulgence.

This time around I've decided to make something I've never tried before.

Something not as conventional as my muffins and brownies =P

So what I did was spend an hour searching the net for recipes!

And then I came across this Lemon Cheesecake Bars recipe which had loads of reviews about how scrumptious it was..

and there my indecisivness came to its end... and I decided to give it a try

::Recipe::

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
2 large eggs
2/3 cup (5 fl.-oz. can) Evaporated Milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
1 teaspoon yellow food coloring (optional)
1 cup sour cream

Directions:
PREHEAT oven to 350° F.

COMBINE flour and powdered sugar in medium bowl.
Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives until crumbly.
Press onto bottom and 1-inch up sides of ungreased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

BAKE for 25 minutes.

PLACE cream cheese, eggs, evaporated milk, granulated sugar, flour,
lemon juice, lemon peel and food coloring in blender container; cover.
Blend until smooth. Pour into partially baked crust.

BAKE for additional 15 minutes or until set. Cool in pan on wire rack.
Spread sour cream over top; refrigerate. Cut into bars. Garnish as desired.

This recipe called for sour creamed -glazing and stores nearby had "Nil" !

Was panicking when mum told me we could make our own sour cream by leaving milk and vinegar to curl for 30 min.. So did that.. but after 30 min it was still watery and it was 2 hours before COOKOUT!

Stress level was rising... when mum gave another suggestion..

"Use Yoghurt. I heard its the same"

I was a little doubtful but had to give in due to time constraint.

Spreaded the yoghurt and left it to chill...

Fingers were crossed all the time till we sampled it during cookout itself.

and it was YUM!!

Really gooood! haha.. phew...and for a first attempt it really got my nerves cracking .( ya by now you would know that I stress out easily =P )

My neighborhood on the other hand hasn't been a safe haven lately.

For the past month, all of us have been waking up to punctured car tyres, shattered windows, and stolen smart tags.

Last Sunday, before going to church... my sister's bf found his pair of Nikes gone!

We replayed the recorded taping from our CCTV, and found the culprit!

He was walking from the opposite road, and climbed over our front wall slowly..

As he came down, he walked past the parked cars, was staring at the direction of the hidden surveliance camera. His eyes were gleaming fiercely in a white glow. ( thanks to cam effect, making him all the more freakish.. it sent a chill down my spine)

He was out of sight.

The 2nd CCTV had him in view after seconds.

He was scurrying. Spotted the shoes and turned back.

He was back in sight in the 1st CCTV. This time he climbed the wall slowly but smoothly, and disappeared into the darkness beyond.

Goosebumps. I sat there staring at the recording with disbelief

The scariest part was the fact that Billy's shoes were well hidden in the rack which was blocked by two of our cars. How in the world did the thief was so certain we had NIKE sneakers placed there? And the only conclusion we figured was : He had been eyeing our house for some time.

Last late night, me and Wei-I just stared at our CCTV screens, each time we hear noises/motorbikes from the outside.

I wanna shift to a gated-area!! =(

Just came back from a really refreshing peaceful trip! =)

It was makan makan all the way there and back.. hehe.
Food has always been the mean of gatherings and fellowship for our Home cell..
So its no coincidence why we've 'nominated' as our annual Retreat for 2009.

Our first tour-spot was the BOH tea plantation.

Wonder what they were laughing at. hahaha

Best place to film Bollywood movies.

Mum and dad getting all shy and giggling, when everyone else made them take a pic together.

One of the highlights of the trip was the Strawberry Farm.. where they had strawberry-everything on the menu! That was our lunch for the day.. simply delectable! =)

blink-a-blink.

and this week is the last week of the semester!

this semester is so short and relaxing (hehe) .. that last sem seemed like a year long itself.

I wish every sem would be a short sem.

kehehe.

MJ has always been mysterious.. even now, after his death..

The cause of death is still blurry.. causing some to wonder if its a publicity gimmick for his upcoming concert.

Bogus. Even his face explains it all.

But I still love Man in the Mirror..

As I am writing here, I've just completed my final feature writing assignment for the sem!!

I can honestly say that this is one of the enjoyable subjects I've taken to date.

Throughout this sem, I was forced to interview strangers in the college compound, cover a story on Poverty -Orang Asli, Lifestyle - which Electone (Organ) was covered ;) .. and this current one -Internet Usage, which I did on Twitter!

Never knew I had this much passion for writing till I took this subject.

* writing for features and writing for assignments are COMPLETELY different ya

Well I've always liked writing, but never really enjoyed it. I think it was prompted ever since I got a diary at the age of 10. I still recall my first entry revolving around my joy in receiving the diary as a gift and some thoughts on a boy I hated in Std 4.

ok. I'm diverting again.

Anyway.. after handing up my assignment tomorrow, I'm going off for church camp in Peacehaven!! A deserving holiday at the right moment. =)

Louisanna in Malaysia

This scenic eatery was a true gem discovered in the middle of Kelana Jaya.
Located by a lake and adorned with earthly colours of cloth, it reminded me of Colmar.

Come lunch, and you get to choose between a variety of set lunches from sandwhiches to chops to pastas. We tried them and loved them! And you also can this "eat all you can" pasta.. just pay RM15 + and you get 3 refills, any pasta of your choice! But, pls pls remember that sharing is strictly disallowed. Haunting eyes lurk around. haha.

Dining at Louisanna is said to be more enchanting at night when the lake is lit up with pretty lights! Gosh. I really wanna come over one night =)

Despite an encounter with a not so welcoming-sarcastic waiteress, everything else aced.
Would also be the perfect spot for dates ;)

And of course the most suitable prop for camwhoring =)

Naim left us to Jamie Oliver's homeland. Sigh. Louisanna served as his B'day celebration and lil did we know, farewell as well. =(
Naim you still owe me Digital Fortress!! grrr..We will all def miss you la...

DONGLAI revisited

This isn't my first visit here, in fact have been paying this place a visit almost twice annually..

But this time around I came here with a different purpose, and what I gained from this experience was surprisingly different as well.. it was like dark chocolate... more enriching... :)

Was assigned to a feature writing assignment on Poverty.

Hence I've decided to base my research on the Orang Asli group in Ulu Langat.

As we've reached the kampung, the hall was locked (forgotten why), so we couldn't go in at the moment. While Mark lingered around with the kids, me and my group mate decided to start interviewing the kids while killing time.

From our in-depth interview, we found out that most of them actually do not go to school, but help their parents instead with work..

This other girl Maria is only 9, yet she has to take care of her 2 year-old sister when her parents go to work. She even brought us to her house.. and I was pretty much astonished....

So used to the proper hall.. I wasn't expecting such a barren, filthy environment.

The lil baby initially was sleeping on the floor at the side of the door. She awoke once we came by, and Maria picked her up instantly.

Took some random shots in between interviews..

This other lady, is actually carrying her 10th child! and they are all BOYS. ( the horror . haa)

And her husband who is the sole income provider for the family, only earns Rm100-200 a month! And much to my surprise, he said his income is sufficient for the family.. though it was also due to the fact that they do not save.

Rosaline, was the last lady we interviewed. You would have never guessed that she wasn't local ( orang asli) but she's acutally from KL.

Met her husband who was working in KL, got married, and followed him back here to the Orang Asli Settlement. When most of them would want to get down to town, and start a life there, she opted for the road less taken... apparently it was cz in Kl there were alot of thieves and "orang jahat" she said. hahaaha.

This was surely the most enriching DongLai visitation for me...

It was an eye-opener about their lives la.

So next time, when you guys are on duty for DongLai.. do talk to them.. you'll be surprised with how much they have to tell you =)

Worship central was a breath of fresh air.

Just soaking in God's presense after a tiring day.. was really worth it =)

My company just organized the largest career fair in Malaysia last Fri to Sun.

There were literally tons of people.. esp on Sat, with a shocking total of over 15 thousand applicants and visitors.

The crowd that day beat any Mega Sale in Malaysia.

The pool of people had to que from what seems like miles from the entrance.. when they came in.. it was like Connaught Pasar Malam x 3.

that shows how badly recession has affected the people here.

After weeks of calling companies to particpate in this fair, and dealing with customers' complaints.. it was finally over!!!

Staying in Dynasty for 3 days was pretty cool too despite the slow heating up shower system.. cause the breakfast was to DIE for!! there was just so much to choose from! From waffles to noodles to pastries to lamb, beef even to yoghurt!! yumm =)

But now we've another project to start with.. and the preparations is starting all over. blek.

Today we had a short video presentation by the kids from church.

In my 2nd week of work, and surprisingly I'm still surviving!

Day in day out we make phone calls to companies to participate in the Career fair. Trying to get them agree is hard enough, waiting for them to send in their registration forms is even longerrr....

You must be wondering why I'm interning in an events company yet doing telemarketing huh? But I guess its pretty much parts and parcels of an events' process. During the event itself, we will be all hands down la.. btw, if you're looking for a job, do come for this fair.

15th-17th May, PWTC

10am-7pm

Gonna be listed in the Malaysia Book of records, as it will be the biggest career fair ever, with 600 companies participating =)

However if you're interested in working as a partimer, by all means give me a call.. the briefing starts tomorrow though.

Two days back, I was so privileged to help out the team in the Fashion Week event for aspiring young designers.

It was the first time I had my hair and make up done by a group of semi-pro Snips' students. It was as if I was in Top Model itself hahahaa. So cool Really.. it took two of them to do my hair... and the girl that did my make-up.. took close to an hour! gosh.... tedious.. till I was pretty bored.

Was pretty shocked when they showed me my hair!!

It was all CURLS! seriously speaking... I looked so old =(

Even the make up gave me a fright...

One thing about them.. they only show you how you look.. after everything...... y

a.. heartattack all in a shot. I didn;t look like wei-li close up. haha. oh well..anything for the fashion week I guess..

Seriously, every one that went for the event was glamorous head to toe..

TUES: badminton and shopping with really random ppl hehe. and celebrated dad's B'day!

The concert was good overall.. loved it most when he sang " ni bu zai" and "luo ye gui gen" which he played the violin... AWWW.. he is seriously one talented guy.. with looks to add =)

TODAY: was more badminton and chit chatting with the gang. had a great wind down time... to prep me up for another week of work haha. and also er.. vid camming with mr.joker face? haha bring me lunch one day! =)

Now i know why they call it the Monday Blues....

Cause i dun wanna work too. =(

no#1: No more assignments and presentations!!!

Finished another designing project - annual report..

and jobstreet advertising presentation today...

Both required be hogging the illustrator the whole week. blurred my vision.

Leaving only finals to study for.. goodbye to 'gluing eyes to com" 6-9 hours continously daily. After by next week i'll be a skipping around! =)

It was Lil and Matt -bottom two... and Matt was booted out...undeservingly.

Was a very tense moment at home, we were all rooting for Matt!!

Even the crowd on screen were chanting for the judges to "SAVE SAVE SAVE" Matt.

And using their only chance of saving one singer from the competition , they chose MATT! =)

Though Adam seems to be the obvious winner.. still would like to see Matt and Kris at the top 3.

Now I can study in peace.

Its Easter all again.. a time to remember God's sacrifice for us...

sometimes when we're so caught up with our own agendas..

we tend to forget the significance of His sacrifice. So lets not wait till next Easter to do so ya!

I am finally having a few days break before another test kicks in!

Just handed in my very own magazine on friday. tedious job.. but its pretty fun in a way, especially when the final copy of your very own magazine is completed.. and u look at it with satisfaction.. but if you continue flipping through the pages.. u might frown.. as minor mistakes reveal themselves gradually. =P

Never had such an enjoyable day, yesterday! =)

We decided to give Ai Ling a belated birthday surprise..

Wanted to secretly surprise her in class.. but while we were walking towards the class.. she came out .. to our surprise ironically. Either way... she was happy.. =)

me back from PENANG!!

it was worth skipping my friday and sat classes =P

was the break i needed desperately... and now i'm all revived and geared for my assings! which is another sad story. boo.

upon arrival..

the first night of Penang was spent blowing bubbles at Gurney..

could actually hear the stall owner saying " these kl ppl...... " in hokkien and passerbys laughing at us.. or maybe just Alvin. hahaa.

oh well..its a retreat afterall.. ;)

2nd day was Water Sports day!

it took the water sports promoters a long time to persuade us to buy their activity packages. reason was it was EXPENSIVE! RM 80 each for parasailing and jet skiing. RM30 for banana boat. A package of RM100 will give u parasailing with b.boat/ jet skiing with b.boat. or if you won't mind paying RM150.. u can all 3.

most of us got the RM100 pack.. that left us eating gardenia bread and milo for the following day's breakfast. as they say.. a price to pay for everything.

but it was all worth the money.. =)

both alvin and wei-i were adventurous and went solo while me and wp shared this experience together.... so cute the parashoots! smiley faces for the solo ones.. and rainbow colored for me and wp's =)

jet skiing and banana boating were the highlights!! screamed alot.. ALOT!

they flip the boat on purpose to make us fall.. but we were the last 3 "sitting".. after 3 flips. muahahahahaaaaa.

Last day we visited Chin Nee's church

it was the first ever church I went to with many international people.. and they served cream puffs after service =)

Penang is congested all the time.

People here greet you even if they are random strangers
unlike the ones we have here, Nightmarkets in P do not sell food
Peaceful. =)
I grew 7 years older in penang.

I won't mind retiring in Penang now. haha.

Cheras Churches Combined prayer meeting was refreshing.

It was the first time our church organized it, and it people kept flooding it, that Un.Eric had to scurry and search for extra chairs ;)

Great to see people of all ages, races and mother tongue, joining hearts interceding for Cheras...

Chinese New Year this time around has been great..
I mean when you get to eat 24-7, receive ang paus, visit people and play dai di... how can it not be FUN? =)

Since most of my immediate family have migrated overseas.. it was only our family and grandpa for reunion dinner. as usual, lots of leftovers which turned into our lunch for the following morn.

I've caught two wedding movies this CNY.
The wedding game and Bride wars.
Both were funny.... but i preferred Wedding Game - a Singaporean production starring Fann Wong . laughed till my stomach hurt.

my 7 days of CNY are as of below:

1st day of CNY

after our reunion dinner. we headed over to an Susan's place.. she invited us over for a Popiah feast!

look at all the ingredients!! i have no idea why wei-i looked like she was crying, and an susan comforting her. haha

2nd day of CNY

Tans came to visit! and my mum took out our Polly pockets for Jennifer to play.. didn't know they existed all the while in the storeroom!! =)

3rd day of CNY

dua budak laki balik kampung.. so it was girls' day's out! =)
had italian for lunch.

our 3 soups combined -mushroom,pumpkin+spinach. yummmmz =)

there were visitors outside, so we ate in the lil room next to the pond.
we thought it was very korean... so we took out chopsticks and bowls to make the pretense more realistic =P

CNY day 4

House hopping among Cfers.

We all played guitar hero and ermm drum hero? which was pretty cool =)

Played poker for the 1st time..

and I lost... =(

Thanks to Josh who suggested the penalty..

I had to down 3 cups full of water!!!

you know how lil i drink in a day... that heap was enough to keep me hydrated for the following day! not to mention, i visited the toilet 3 times in less than an hour..booo

We Lo Lo sang.. and had lots of food! by the way, wei wen's mum is a great cook! yum =)

also found out a super chunted place to camwhore.. ehhe

5th and 6th day of CNY

were spent with church frens =)

with the koay sisters!
wanted to sing karaoke at red box.. but they've hiked up the price to RM25 per person!!
and we only had 2 hours. since it was almost 12 ,, and promo ends at 2..
we spent it on tony romas instead..

haha this is what u get when girls order food.. LEFTOVERS.

on the 6th day we headed to james and jon's place due to a change in plans..
no pic. cz its with james.. and i'm still waiting for him to online.. to get it from him! grr faster send it to me.. =)

i've just finished a take home test also, completed my presentation for class today.

ever since the 1st day of coll.. i've been bussyyyyy.. busier than bees =(

i lack sleep and lack lusture in skin. hence the similarity to edward cullen's pale skin.

lack of appetite occasionally. fooooooooooddd i miss uuuu =(

i find joy in lil things now.. like taking a 10 min nap and reading the comics column from Star.

purposely bought yesman to lighten me self. i can't even believe i didn't find yes man funny.. except for one part. but still...

but i do thank God for LEader's Retreat,Ypf and house cleansing. Liften my spirits definitely... especially during games.. ;)

and no one can sing "shangai tan" like an. Susan!

Thank God for these ppl... and these lil moments will def keep me hanging.. =)
