Circus and Curls

The YWAM team from Brazil came over to FGA KL to hold a dance-performance workshop.
Was quite surprised that it was more to dance that they had to offer that day... you'll know soon enough  =)

We were one of the earliest dancing team to arrive...  since they've renovated the old building, I was delighted that they actually have a dance hall this huge with mirrors! Every dancer's dream indeed.

Later the Sara, Denise and the Dumc dancers came.. and soon enough FGA USJ and KL dancers were present.. and we started our workshop =)

Drama was our 1st activity that day.It was a little hard for our trainer/faciliator to speak in English, so she got her husband to translate for her. So sweet =) So we did a short skit on corruption, and the other team on violence.

After drama, we were told the next workshop would be Circus. I was like " what? " acrobats??"
True enough.. not quite there but some of us were taught to roll, standing on our hands, cart-wheels and climb-on-one another-stunt like what circus performers do..

Rolling...rolling....

Stunts we could copy .....

Stunts that simply needed loads of hard-training

We also did this climbing-on-one another stunt!

Was pretty sure my back was gonna break when the top girl climbed on... but guess what? It wasn;t that painful haha.. still bearable.. there was a way on how we should place our knees on other's back..if placed wrongly it would really hurt..

after successfully positioning ourselves  for this stunt.. hurried the cameraman to take a quick shot, for us poor base-supporters were trembling..!

This was indeed the more interesting activity I had that day.. since it was my first time performing -circus style ;)

Hip Hop was next and it was sooooo FUN!

we did 3 different routines in a short span of 2 hours..
Strech hip hop( Stretching for Hip Hop! never knew it existed haha ), the actual thing( which was really complicated ) and Bee-Boy ( 6 step.. twirls and freezes ) which I toppled many times. hoho. Amanda u must teach me how to freeze!!

U know how lembik I can be at times muahaa..never really exposed to hip hop..but after that session I believe I'm edgier now... =P

Had a really great time! It was  a good thing that us though from different churches can come together to do something due to this similar interest we have in performance and arts. Hope to have more of these in the near future =)

Had a stayover at Beat's place straight after dance workshop.. decided to get our dinner from the well known connaught pasar malam.

This scene is only available on Wednesdays.. where over 40 folks with insensitive noses que all the way for the one and only " chao tau fu" ( fermented beancurd ). The musky "aroma" was so strong that even noses were pinched blocks away from it..

Tried once last year. vowed myself never to try it again..

Heyz you Pj fellas that came over.. so sorry that I couldn't join u guys later on .. hope you guys got some memorable tau fu ;)

Our pasar-malam bought dinner.. which coincidently looked er.. brownish.

Too much of takoyakis can make u sick =/

Girly sleepovers can never get this girly.. we decided to curl our hair with Beat's curler!

Beatrice the hair-curler-stylist

I was hers when she was done with everyone;s hair

Tada!

Gone were the days of straight hair!

We thought she pulled off the curls best! =)

Not so obvious due to dark shirt!

Drapped a lighter-coloured shawl so her curls would stand out
Haha typical Beat =)

Everyone thought she should get curls during her next visit to the saloon.

The guys came over to watch Money Not Enough 2.. many who have seen it said it was a tear-jerker, and even a friend said that her friends were passing the tissue box in the cinema...

Jas who has seen it said confidently " everyone will cry one. even guys ok.. "

So we were up for the challenge!

Well, show starts ...It was mostly about how relationships are more important than money.. super lame at some parts ...but halfway through I fell dozed off a lil while, cause I couldn't understand Hokkien, and the subtitles only popped out occasionally..

Talking about the subtitles really makes me laugh..I think the translator translated everything directly from cantonese..most of the sentences didn't makes sense!

okok there was one refering to the car's engine going "sei fo"

and the subs showed " die engine"

-_-'

I think reading the subtitles alone can deviate its dramaness and turn it to a comedy ..But of course.. there were also tragic scenes. But throughout the show, only one of us was left sobbing  haha..no guessing here..

Since the guys were in a girl's slumber-party... they weren't excluded from our girly activities!

While Elwin fooled around with hair pins.. we had

Nail Painting!

For Tommy too!
(act he was being forced by Jas to decorate those nails. hehe)

Starry nails!!
(He looks vengeful)

He's officially girly-fied!

Well at least for 2 minutes..

He couldn't take in the new found girly-essence he acquired. Dashed to the bathroom to scrub off every sparkly star .. without even waiting for the nail-polish remover that we hid from him..

Hahaha...

Here's Tommy singing one of my fav song by David Tao.
While everyone's true lamenes reveals..

Jamie I think you know this song hehe

You guys are the craziest bunch of people I've known! Ever since the hay days of Connaught Cf, can;t believe we're still together.. well I would have to say that

Some Friendships were meant to last =)
